A curved treadmill is a non-motorized, concave device that allows users to walk and run on it with each foot strike propelling the belt behind them. 

The self-powered treadmill allows you to run with a natural style on the balls of your feet. This pushes your body forward creating the momentum to turn the treadmill belt. This style of running uses more muscle groups in the body at the same time when compared to the traditional heel strike used by many runners.

Early review - so far so good

I used a Technogym Skill Mill in a hotel gym recently and was really impressed with the curved treadmill concept. It also had adjustable magnetic resistance, which makes it really versatile (read on). This particular treadmill is practically identical, apart from the digital display (which I prefer) and it is a lot cheaper. It weighs a bit(150kg) but it makes for a stable running platform. I love the fact that you can control your running pace like you would on a real run (unlike a powered treadmill) and I also love that with the magnetic resistance set on high, you can simulate a hill run on the top of the curve. Throw on a weighted vest, max resistance setting - you're doing hill climbs. This beast will really come into its own when winter hits!
